Empowered Voices

About Us

We are a media-driven organization based in Maroua, the capital of Cameroon's Far North Region. Our primary objective is to empower female journalists through specialized training and mentorship programs, equipping them to report effectively on conflicts and humanitarian crises.

Founded in 2023, our organization strives to be a beacon of hope and support for individuals seeking to express their stories and experiences. Our mission is to foster a network of skilled female journalists by providing Comprehensive training workshops , Personalized mentorship programs and Support for physical safety in conflict zones.

With the escalation of Boko Haram attacks in the Far North, female journalists are often on the frontlines, reporting from volatile areas like Kolofata, Fotokol, Darak, Amchide, Limani, Mora, Mozogo, and Tourou. These brave reporters capture the voices of women and children affected by violence, interviewing displaced persons, refugees, and survivors who have lost family members. To address the inherent challenges of such critical reporting, the Cameroon Network of Female Journalists Reporting Crises (CAMNFERJORC) has prioritized training initiatives focusing on: "Safe Storytelling Practices for Women Journalists in Conflict Zones: Ethical Interviewing Techniques for Reporting on Boko Haram Survivors and Victims." Empowering journalists with the right skills ensures that the untold stories of those impacted by crises are reported with sensitivity and authenticity, fostering greater awareness and advocacy for their plight.
